Description: Pär-Olof Eklund is one of the masters of the Sami styled knife and regularly receives awards in the Swedish Championships. This delightful miniature full horn neck knife was awarded 2nd prize in the Pendant Knives category at the 2010 Nordic Championship in Ludvika. Seeing his work, it is no surprise.
This pendant is truly a one-of-a-kind piece. The blade was forged by renowned Swedish bladesmith Mattias Styrefors, beginning with 20C and 15N20 carbon steels. The result is a dramatic, high-contrast pattern. A pool and eye pattern has been torqued slightly, adding the drama of a ripple to the carbon steel damascus pattern.
The handle is very traditional and has a slim and perfectly proportioned oval shape. The reindeer antler has been polished to a gloss finish, bringing out natural variations in color. A groove, cut a third of the way down the handle, ensures the knife clicks securely into the sheath. The traditional Scandinavian patterns on the sheath and handle are deeper than scrimshaw - a type of hand engraving, darkened with alder bark powder. The engraving is very detailed, showing tremendous skill in implementation. The sheath is completed with a braided leather cord, for wearing as a neck knife, and a decorative reindeer antler button. Exceptional fit and finish throughout! Accompanied by reindeer leather storage pouch.
