Description: 2011 marks the 35th anniversary of Bob's knifemaking. Throughout the year, he will be marking his 35 favorite knives of the year with the "Lay 35" mark to celebrate the anniversary. This is one such knife.
Bob Lay's designs are well thought out and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship. The mirror polished 416 stainless steel guard and butt cap help create a perfect balance in the hand while the mun ebony handle is contoured for an amazingly comfortable feel, despite the size of the piece! Both the ebony and the sheep horn have been cut to show off the grain of the exhibition quality materials. 416 stainless steel spacers add a nice contrast, and black fiber spacers assist the piece to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
This dramatic fighter really shows off Bob Lay's knifemaking at its best. By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob creates a knife that emphasizes the precision of his work. The blade has been heat treated to 59 Hrc for optimal edge retention. ATS-34 ensures a resilient edge. The clip is brought to a fully sharpened edge. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
Accompanied by certificate from the maker.
