Description: This exceptional hand forged camp knife is the creation of California artist Don Carlos Andrade. The influence of Tai Goo, Don Carlos Andrade's mentor is clearly visible in this knife.
The antiqued blade was forged to shape from 1065 carbon steel. The blade has a thick spine for exceptional heft and a satisfying chopping motion. Don forges closely to shape and uses a draw file for final shaping rather than a grinder. Though this takes a lot of time, the results are unique and exceptional. The flats are forge finished. The bevels are lightly polished to a satin finish.
The handle scales are formed from old growth Brazilian rosewood. The straight grained wood is set with antiqued brass pins. Cotton cord is tied in Turks heat knots and set with pinion rosin for a secure, comfortable grip. The resulting knife is one that you won't want to put down. This is a perfect knife for chopping and splitting wood yet it is keen enough for food prep. Exceptional work throughout.
