Description: Jay Hendrickson's work is something that always catches my immediate attention. His sense of design, fit and finish can be found nowhere else. The appleseed grind, a hallmark of his work, creates an edge that is durable, while being super-sharp. This knife, which was made in 2005, has been in a single collection and is in new condition.
The clip point blade was hand forged to shape. It has a slight up-sweep. It was forged from 52100 carbon steel. Many makers and users feel that 52100 is among the best carbon steels currently available for edge holding. It creates an ultra-keen edge that just doesn't quit. A differential heat treatment ensures a hard cutting edge with a softer, resilient spine.
The masur birch handle was formed from wood from Belarus, Russia. Both sides have been carved in Jay's oak leaf motif -- another hallmark of Jay's knives. The wood is surrounded by a nickel silver guard and cap. The pouch style leather sheath has matching hand tooling. Exceptional work throughout!
