Description: Mastersmith Bruce Bump creates some of the most dramatic and unique knives to be found anywhere. His design and implementation are among the most inspiring work to be found anywhere.
The 7-1/4 inch long damascus blade features a dramatic pattern Bruce calls Texas Wind. He created it by forging a W's pattern damascus from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels then laddering the edge. Bruce's mark is on the left ricasso, with his MS stamp on the right.
The ring guard was forged to shape from 1018 mild steel. It was meticulously hand engraved by Jere Davison in English Scroll style. The ring guard wraps around to fit perfectly with exhibition grade, stabilized curly koa wood. The rear pommel, also forged from 1018 mild steel is completed with an engraved screw. Showing Bruce's true mastery, the knife is made with take-down construction. Creating such a complex knife so as to be able to be fully disassembled in among the most challenging efforts that a knifemaker can attempt. Here, Bruce has accomplished it with aplomb.
The knife is accompanied by a tooled leather sheath by Robin Severe. It is in a style he called Rough Country and features decorative rawhide chevrons.
Truly exceptional!
