Description: In the late 1800s, Michael Price was among the greatest of the knifemakers of San Francisco. The knives produced by him were among the most exotic, the most costly, and perhaps the most beautiful knives ever made in the United States. Reproductions such as this one created by Anders Hogstrom and Kaj Embretsen successfully re-create the spirit of these earlier American makers.
The dagger ground blade was forged by renowned bladesmith Kaj Embretsen from 15N20 and 20C carbon steels. The ladder pattern has excellent chatoyancy -- an effect similar to a tiger's eye gemstone when turned in the light. A gold name plate is set on the ricasso with both makers' marks. The classic ring guard is formed from antiqued, textured Sterling silver. The handle is formed from a solid piece of walrus ivory. Blue and reddish-brown tones move throughout the ancient ivory. The handle is completed with a gold end cap. Exceptional work throughout!
