Description: Journeyman Smith Erik Fritz's knives have a classic look and feel coupled with an outstanding eye for uniquely detailed materials. This Damascus and Blackwood Hunter has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It is in new condition and by all appearances could have been made yesterday. This hunter continues to be among my favorite knives that Erik Fritz has made to date!
Erik began by forging out a laddered W's pattern Damascus. The pattern is both bold enough to appreciate from a distance and to fascinate upon closer examination. By using 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels and matching this with his expert heat treatment, Erik ensures a keen, long lasting edge. The blade has been differentially heat treated for a strong supportive spine and hard edge.
A stainless steel guard and pin complement the straight grained blackwood handle. A stainless habaki is extremely elegant. This blade guard is borrowed from Japanese swords and fits this hunter perfectly.
A hand-stitched leather pouch sheath completes the package for a knife which is sure to be a prize in any collection or a tremendous use knife. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
