Description: I was very pleased when Mastersmith Bill Burke introduced me to Bruce Barnett. For several weeks, Bill had brought up this Australian visiting knifemaker as a potential new maker for BladeGallery. When I saw Bruce's attention to detail, skill, and artistic eye, I immediately thanked Bill. It was with great pleasure that I watched Bruce complete the performance test on his way to becoming a journeyman smith.
This damascus hunter features a 4.4 inch blade formed from Devin Thomas damascus. The stainless damascus has a tight banded pattern and is immediately captivating. A distal taper assures excellent balance.
The silicon bronze guard is precision fit to the blade and is followed by a black fiber spacer which assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The handle is formed from curly jarrah wood. This Australian wood is very hard and heavy with high durability and resistance to decay. It is harvested in forests south of Perth. The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled pouch style leather sheath. Excellent work throughout.
