Description: Award winning Swedish knifemaker Greger Forselius creates knives with elegant and dramatic materials using traditional Swedish techniques and designs. His unique aesthetic is clearly shown in this piece.
This highly detailed Swedish Puukko hunting knife brings together Greger's work with that of renowned Swedish bladesmith Roger Bergh. Roger is among the best known Scandinavian makers alive today. He began the intriguing blade by forging two bars of twist pattern damascus from 20C and 15N20 carbon steels. This assures exceptional edge holding. A central mosaic damascus bar travels through the center of the blade and adds stunning contrast.
The contrast in the damascus blade is nicely echoed by the stacked handle materials. Curved sections of black ash burl, mammoth ivory and walrus ivory are combined in an inspired mosaic. Thin spacers formed from copper surrounded by black fiber both add contrast and assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. An abstract scrimshaw pattern on the largest piece of mammoth ivory continues the natural patterns of the other materials used. The handle has been nicely sculpted for a comfortable, secure hand-hold. A copper finial completes the handle. Excellent fit and finish throughout. A true Forselius masterpiece!
