Description: Firewater Trader evokes an earlier time. It was fashioned in the style of bowies from the 1850s -- carried by the buffalo hide traders. These entrepreneurial souls lived and died by their successes and failures. This piece would certainly have grabbed the attention of any buffalo hide trader!
The 7-1/4 inch blade was forged from six separate bars of damascus. The combined pattern is immediately appealing, drawing the eye across the length of the blade. It is flat ground and features a recurve for an aggressive cutting edge. The edge moves into a Spanish notch just in front of the ricasso. A textured bronze ferrule is set in front of the guard and features a 14k gold name plate.
The mammoth ivory scales were chosen for tones ranging from caramel to burnt cream. These are surrounded by hot blued mild steel fittings. The frame has been engraved with a vine pattern. The pommel is completed with a damascus ornament forged from 1084 and pure nickel. Showing tremendous skill, Emil made this knife with take-down construction. It can be disassembled into 19 separate pieces.
Exceptional work throughout!
