Description: Canadian knifemaker Alain Desaulniers's work is meticulously performed. Alain had the opportunity to work with renowned knifemaker John Young, who in turn worked under Steve Johnson. The influence of Young, Johnson, and Bob Loveless is clearly visible in Desaulniers's work. This, matched with his attention to detail, makes for an exceptional knife. This Mini-Wilderness hunter is based on Bob Loveless' design.
The stainless steel blade was double hollow ground to accentuate the dramatic grind lines. The spine is not fully sharpened. The double guard is formed from 416 stainless steel and nicely offsets desert ironwood scales. Large stainless rivets and a lanyard hole complete the handle. The full tang construction assures a durable construction. A distal taper to both blade and tang results in perfect balance. Red fiber spacers assist the ironwood to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The handle has been nicely shaped for a very comfortable, secure grip. Accompanied by hand stitched leather sheath. Exceptional work throughout.
