Description: Canadian knifemaker Alain Desaulniers' work is meticulously performed. Alain has had the opportunity to work with renowned knifemaker John Young, who in turn worked under Steve Johnson. The influence of both Young and Johnson is clearly visible in Desaulniers' work. This, matched with his attention to detail, makes for an exceptional knife. This knife was in a single private collection since it was made in 2012. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. It has never been used to cut and by all appearances could have been made yesterday.
The blade is formed from a san mai mosaic damascus steel forged by Ed Schempp. 52100 carbon steel is set between layers of Ed's mosaic damascus -- combining dramatic beauty with high performance. It is very rare to find a damascus blade by Alain. A hollow grind accentuates the dramatic grind lines. The clip is not fully sharpened.
The guard is formed from 416 stainless steel and nicely offsets the desert ironwood handle. Black fiber spacers assist the ironwood to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The handle has been nicely shaped for a very comfortable, secure grip.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath. Exceptional work throughout!
