Description: Canadian knifemaker Alain Desaulniers' work is meticulously performed. Alain has had the opportunity to work with renowned knifemaker John Young, who in turn worked under Steve Johnson. The influence of both Young, Johnson, and Bob Loveless is clearly visible in Desaulniers' work. This, matched with his attention to detail, makes for an exceptional knife. This Big Bear Fighter is based on Bob Loveless' famous design.
The stainless steel blade was hollow ground to accentuate the dramatic grind lines. The spine is not fully sharpened. The sub hilt guard is formed from 416 stainless steel and nicely offsets the warm toned ironwood scales. Large stainless rivets and a lanyard hole complete the handle. The full tang construction assures a strong construction. A distal taper to both blade and tang results in perfect balance. The handle has been nicely shaped for a very comfortable, secure grip. Exceptional work throughout.
