Description: Viking Hunting Axe shows off Tobbe Lundstrom's work in its full creativity. The axe head is a replica of an early Viking axe found along the Norwegian coast. The axe is on display at the Viking Museum in Oslo.
The SS 1672 carbon steel head was forged to shape by renowned blacksmith KG Lindblad. Lindblad is Tobbe's cousin. The head is forge finished with a polished, fully sharpened edge.
The unique curved handle is formed from masur birch with reindeer antler and damascus ornamentation. The curved shape makes it perfect for chopping. Toward the base, the handle has been hand knurled, providing a sure grip. The damascus inlay was forged by Northern Swedish bladesmith Kent Anderson using 20C and 15n20 carbon steels.
The axe is accompanied by a masur birch and reindeer antler blade cover. The reindeer antler pin is engraved in traditional Sami style.
