Description: Mastersmith Rick Dunkerley was one of the first makers to join BladeGallery when we first started, back in 1997. Certainly, at that point, we had no idea that it would grow into such a big project. I'm very excited to offer this limited edition BladeGallery exclusive knife from Rick.
Rick began by designing a new pattern for the knife. We then decided to make it in three sizes: a large knife with fossil mammoth ivory scales, a mid-sized knife with tortoise shell, and a smaller folder with presentation grade black lip mother of pearl scales. Rick made three knives of each size. Each is individually numbered on the interior of the backbar: "Dunkerley/Bladegallery 2009 ;  3 of 3".
The blade and bolsters are formed from matching nitre blued damascus. It is a pattern he calls Santa Ana Wind. A citrine is set into the thumb stud. The blade has silky-smooth action.
Mammoth ivory scales are dovetailed to the damascus bolsters and incorporate green, caramel, and cream tones. 15N20 carbon steel liners have been stippled and nitre blued. The 1084 carbon steel backbar has been hand engraved in a chevron pattern. All screws -- even those on the interior under the scales have been meticulously hand fileworked and nitre blued. The interior of the liners has been mirror polished.
Exceptional work throughout!
