Description: Tapered Hexagon Hammer Poll by Lonnie Hanson features a hand forged 52100 carbon steel head with an antique patina. The head has been sculpted with a triple chevron. The hammer features a meticulously carved hexagon. "My life for the liberty of the captives." is engraved on the right side of the head and Lonnie's mark, "L.C. Hanson" is on the left side. A gothic cross is pierced through the blade. Both the top and the bottom of the blade have hand filework leading into a tapered leading edge. The hickory haft has an antiqued end cap and permanent plug at the top. The leather upper is surrounded by antiqued, hammer finished collars.
The head length is 8 1/4 in. and the cutting edge is 3 1/8 in. The haft measures 21 3/4 in. long. This piece is very sturdy and well weighted for chopping as well as hammering. Exceptional work throughout!
