Description: Lyle Brunckhorst's Star Fighter features a X-ross bar locking mechanism. This unique lock was developed by knife designed Dan Perrault and is one of the strongest locking mechanisms ever created. The liner travels to the left, engaging directly into the "tang" of the blade -- making a lock that is nearly as strong as a fixed blade knife. Additionally, by moving the lock to the spine, it keeps fingers away from the blade.
The blade is well centered and has silky smooth action, due to the IKBS (Ikoma Koth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
The mirror polished blade is formed from ultra-high performance CPM154 stainless steel. This powdered metallurgical stainless steel has an extremely small grain structure -- resulting in a very keen, long lasting edge. On the left side of the blade, Lyle has engraved: "Star Figher #11 / Bronk's Knife Works". On the right side, he has engraved: "Xross Bar Lock Pat/ Pend / IKBS". By using Titanium for the pocket clip and liners, Lyle has kept this folder light in the hand. The 3D scales are carved from Micarta -- extremely durable and dramatic. The pocket clip is reversible for left or right handed carry. Nice fit and finish throughout.
