Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the Damascus, to sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic. Micke is one of the few Swedish makers to make such large, impressive Bowies.
The massive carbon steel Bowie was forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. The blade was triple quenched to keen, long lasting edge. The blade has clearly defined differential heat treatment lines, showing the transition from the soft, supportive spine to the hard edge steel.
The oval guard and ferrule were both forged from wrought iron. Polished steel spacers surround the ferrule. The handle is desert ironwood. The handle swells nicely toward the base, for a comfortable, secure grip.
