Description: The Natchez Bowie is named after Natchez, Mississippi, where James Bowie is said to have had a bloody fight in 1827. A famous McKenney and Hall lithograph shows a Bowie of this style being carried by the Cherokee Chief Tah-Chee.
Neil McKee's Natchez Style Bowie will be at home both in the field and in a collection. The O1 carbon steel blade will be easy to maintain and will hold an excellent edge. The spine has been fileworked, providing a secure thumb purchase. The flats are meticulously hand engraved in a floral scroll pattern. The carbon steel bolsters were hand satin finished and feature deep floral scroll engraving. All engraving is by the maker. The bolsters are dovetailed to fancy walnut scales. Brass pins add warmth and contrast. Accompanied by a hand tooled leather sheath. Excellent work throughout on a period style piece!
