Description: The sturdy dendritic D-2 carbon steel blade has a fileworked spine for a sure thumb purchase. A tapered blade and tang result in a perfect balance. Dendritic steel produces a blade with a lot of bite, which is all the more impressive due to the cryogenic heat treatment. This blade was hardened to Rc58-59.
The maple burl handle has been stabilized so as to hold up well to the strenuous demands of outdoor use. The dramatic, swirling grain structure is complemented by turquoise and sheep horn spacers. Thin copper spacers bring out the natural warm tones of the wood. Thin red fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The knife fits very well in the hand. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
