Description: The sturdy ATS-34 stainless steel blade has a hand fileworked spine for a sure thumb purchase. A tapered blade and tang result in a perfect balance. This blade was hardened to Rc60-62 (very hard!) for exceptional edge holding.
The handle was formed from stellar sea cow bone with front spacers formed from zebra bone. The stellar sea cow became extinct in 1768, only a few short years after being discovered (due to an unfortunate combination of moving slowing and tasting good). Red fiber surrounds nickel spacers, allowing the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. Both bones were stabilized so as to hold up well to the strenuous demands of outdoor use. Mosaic pins add excellent contrast. The knife fits very well in the hand. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
