Description: When you ask a collector of custom-made knives, Walter Brend's name is instantly recognizable as one associated with quality craftsmanship in military and combat knives. He is a craftsman who sets the most exacting standards and takes pride in performing as many operations by hand as possible. His shop is simple. He spends hours achieving precise fits between all parts of the knife, then applies a time consuming, hand rubbed finish of satin luster to every surface.
Walter specializes in military and combat knives and he firmly believes they must receive care and attention to detail as these knives are intended for life saving. Lives often depend on a knife. There can be no compromise.
In 2004, Walter celebrated the 25th year of making knives. To commemorate this event, he made 50 Model 2 knives, each individually numbered on the right side. The left side has Brend's maker's mark with 25th Anniversary set above the Confederate flag.
The flats of the D2 blade were satin finished. The hollow grinds were meticulously mirror polished. The guard is formed from 416 stainless steel and meets perfectly to the polished green canvas Micarta handle. The handle is nicely profiled, swelling at the palm at the pommel. Three mosaic pins and a lanyard hole complete the handle.
The knife is accompanied by a wood presentation case with glass top.
This 25th Anniversary knife was kept in a knifemaker's private collection and has been meticulously cared for. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday and is in new condition. An exceptional find!
