Description: Michael, who was honored as a Journeyman Smith in June 2006 has a style all of his own. His work combines an aesthetic drawn from Medieval and Far East influences.
This integral damascus camp knife was hand forged from Michael's own damascus. The 300 layer damascus incorporates both bold and detailed patterns throughout the blade. This makes the steel immediately captivating from a distance and fascinating from up close.
The damascus bolster is also integral -- a technique that is very rare in handmade knives due to the difficulty of implementation. The resulting knife is extremely durable and dramatic. The handle is formed from exhibition grade curly koa with box elder burl accents. The woods are meticulously combined with the seams nearly beyond perception. By using stabilized woods, Michael is able to combine the beauty of natural wood with durability. Alternating spacers are formed from copper and black G10. The knife has perfect balance and feels exceptional in the hand. It is accompanied by a hand stitched and tooled leather sheath. Exceptional work throughout.
