Description: The Cameo Dagger is a collaboration between David Broadwell and Raymond Cover. It was completed in July of 1997 and has been in a single collection since then. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition.
The leaf shaped blade is quite thick at the carved ricasso (just over 1/3 inch!). By hollow grinding the blade, he created very bold, dramatic grind lines. The ricasso area has been carved, a hallmark of David's work.
The handle was created by Raymond Cover and is one of the most dramatic handles I've ever seen. The main section of the handle is formed from sterling silver. This has been meticulously engraved on the sides of the handle. The center of each side features a cameo, carved from exhibition grade gold lip mother of pearl. Both sides are highly detailed, with cascading hair. The cameo is shown below an arch the background has been carved and is detailed in gold. The entire section is circled with gold inlay. The handle is completed with a damascus flower, the center of which is inlaid with gold lip mother of pearl.
The Cameo Dagger is accompanied by a certificate from the maker. Exceptional work throughout!
