Description: When two of the great names in knifemaking get together, it is no surprise that the results are exceptional. This Persian dagger was made by renowned knifemaker (now retired) Herman Schneider. Meticulous inlay throughout was done by Julie Warenski.
The upswept damascus blade is dagger ground. The large guard was meticulously carved from 1018 mild steel and gun blued to match the frame. Pre-ban elephant ivory scales are set with 18kt gold pins.
Renowned engraver Julie Warenski engraved the 18kt gold escutcheon and inlaid gold throughout the handle. Much of the gold has been built up and sculpted. On the left ferrule, "H.J. Schneider" is inlaid in gold. On the right side, "A.K.I.-'93 / No. 1" has been inlaid in gold.
This knife has been in a single private collection since it was made for the Art Knife Invitational in 1993. It has been meticulously cared for and is in mint condition. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday.
