Description: Johan Gustafsson is famed for creating some of the most detailed Damascus and most complex, brightly colored folders found anywhere. This unique bowie/folder combination is one of the most dramatic knives that he has made to date.
The 10 inch long bowie blade is formed multiple bars of Johan's highly complex mosaic damascus. The central section depicts many palomino horses. The edge and spine are formed from explosion pattern damascus. The 4 1/8 inch long folding blade along with the bolsters are formed from explosion pattern damascus. The steel throughout has been heat colored to bring out gold, silver, green, and purple tones. Johan has spent years developing a complex heat coloring technique to bring out colors rarely, if ever, found in other makers' work.
Caramel toned fossil mammoth ivory scales are dovetailed to the large explosion pattern bolsters. The scales sit on fully fileworked and anodized titanium liners. Full Damascus backbar. Gold plated screws finish out the presentation.
The blade has silky-smooth action and is easily opened using the gold thumb stud which holds a faceted emerald. The adjustable stop, unique to Johan's knives, allows the angle at which the blade is closed to be changed. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
The bowie blade measures 10 inches and is 1.9 inches tall. The folder blade is 4 1/8 inches and is 1.3 inches tall. With both blades open, the overall length is 19.2 inches.
