Description: This is an exceptional sub-hilt bowie is the work of Journeyman Smith Gary Rodewald. The elegant lines of a bowie are combined with a sub-hilt guard, fossil walrus handle and an engraved spine.
The blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel. Many knifemakers and collectors have found this to be among the best, if not the best, steel currently used anywhere for knives. A soft back draw results in a soft, supportive spine, with a hard, keen, and long lasting cutting edge. The hand satin finish lends a tremendous sense of elegance. The thick spine has bee distal tapered, both in the blade and tang. The spine has been hand engraved. The handle is carved from fossil walrus ivory. A sub hilt guard is formed from layers of nickel and brass. Accompanied by Gordon Kenley leather sheath. Exceptional work throughout!
