Description: Bob Lay's designs are well thought through and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship. I'm a fan of Bob's work -- it is consistently extremely well done and his sense of design always shines through. However, every so often he makes a knife that shines beyond the others. This is one such knife.
Warm toned exhibition grade desert ironwood has a swirling grain pattern. A sheephorn spacer adds just the right amount of contrast. Alternating stainless steel and black fiber spacers allow the handle to adjust to changes in temperature and humidity. The stainless steel guard and butt cap create a perfect balance in the hand.
Bob has upgraded the steel on this Classic Hunter by using CPM154 stainless steel for the blade. This steel takes on an incredibly keen edge and holds it exceptionally well. The blade has been heat treated to 59Rc for optimal edge retention. By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob creates a knife with grind lines that are very dramatic. Accompanied by hand tooled sheath, cordura storage pouch, and certificate from the maker.
