Description: The first in the "Not So Ugly Fish" series, Seahorse Art Knife is carved from hand forged 1075 carbon steel. Tom mixes metal carving with engraving and inlay to create a vivid, dynamic fish. Three dimensional engraving shows off detailed fins and scales. The eyes have been inlaid with copper for a vivid, lifelike appearance. The eyes show the strongest evidence of Tom's experience with netsuke (small sculptural objects, or toggles, usually worn to suspend objects hung from the sash of the kimono). The hand forged 1075 carbon steel blade is grasped in the horse's coiled tail. Accompanied by maple burl and cocobolo display stand. On the stand, the horse measures approximately 3.7 inches in height. Exceptional work throughout!
