Description: Another in the "ugly fish" series, the Anglerfish is carved from hand forged 1075 carbon steel. Tom mixes metal carving with engraving and inlay to create a vivid, dynamic fish. Three dimensional engraving shows off detailed fins, gills, and teeth. The eyes have been inlaid with copper for a vivid, lifelike appearance. The eyes show the strongest evidence of Tom's experience with netsuke (small sculptural objects, or toggles, usually worn to suspend objects hung from the sash of the kimono). The hand forged 1075 carbon steel blade makes a dramatic tail. Accompanied by frontier style rawhide sheath. Exceptional work throughout!
