Description: This handmade, one-of-a-kind "Floating Treasures" pendant depicts a detailed moth engraved in Shibuishi. Shibuichi means "one-fourth" in Japanese and indicates the standard formulation of one part silver to four parts copper. Until the Meiji reforms (late 19th century), when swordsmiths began to make purely decorative objects instead of swords, shibuichi was used to ornament various fittings for katana.
The engraving is highly detailed, showing the moth at rest. The "bowl" was meticulously hand carved from moose antler. The pendant measures approximately 1 2/3 inches across and is approximately 1/3 inch thick. It is accompanied by a 28 inch woven linen necklace with and elk antler closure.
