Description: Anders, who is well known for his exceptional fit and finish, has once more produced an exceptional knife. The straight backed blade has a long sharpened edge along the spine. The blade has been heat tempered using a traditional Japanese method that involves packing clay onto the center of the blade. The result is a temper line (called a hamon) -- this shows a differential hardness between cutting edge and the center of the blade -- and a very strong knife. A temper line which travels along both the sharpened spine and the cutting edge is particularly hard to accomplish, and Anders has performed this to perfection.
The handle is formed from a single piece bone from and ancient whale flipper. The bone is light caramel in tone with darker specs throughout. Antiqued sterling silver fittings surround the ancient handle and nicely compliment and protect the ivory. Exceptional work throughout.
