Description: Daniel Winkler and Karen Shook work together to create knives that have a timeless beauty that will quickly become family heirlooms. Their name is well known in re-enactment circles throughout the world and movie buffs may recognize their work in films such as Last of the Mohicans. Their knives have an authenticity rarely found in other maker's work.
This rustic Small Hunter has a dramatic sense of presence. The 1084 carbon steel blade was forged to shape and antique finished to match the steel ferrule. Daniel convex ground the blade, leaving dramatic forge marks in the flats. The spine has been fileworked for a secure thumb purchase. The handle is formed from bone and is secured using three carbon steel pins. A distal tapered tang results in a perfect balance. The handle is extremely comfortable in the hand.
The knife is accompanied by a sheath by Karen Shook. The rawhide sheath has a seam traveling around the edge. Leather tassels decorated with trade beads, tin cones, and horse hair accent the tight sinew sewn seam. A porcupine quill medicine wheel rests at the sheath's center. Accompanied by certificate from the maker.
