Description: The head is 52100 carbon steel with an antique patina. The head has been sculpted with a triple chevron and octagon hammer and has been pierced with a detailed cross. The head length is 8 1/2 in. and the cutting edge is 2.8 in. The haft measures 21 1/3 in. long. This piece is very sturdy and well weighted for chopping as well as hammering.
The hawk is accompanied by a distress display box designed to evoke a late middle ages shipping box. The box is made with reproduction 16th century square and wrought iron nails. The inside is lined with antiqued canvas with leather used for the hinges and handles. The hawk is held in place with a very powerful neodymium magnet. The hawk is easily removed by taking hold of it and pulling the handle at the same time as pushing the box.
Exceptional work throughout!
