Description: This is an exceptional hunter by Mastersmith Steve Dunn. The 4 1/2 in. Damascus blade was forged to shape from 1075 and 15N20 carbon steels for a keen, long lasting edge. A distal taper results in optimal balance. The laddered Damascus is a pattern the Steve calls "Wild Texas Wind". A central line of swirls of wind radiate gusts out toward the edge and spine of the knife. Showing tremendous control, the pattern shows off chatoyancy (the same effect as on a tiger's eye gemstone), whereby the pattern appears to move when the knife is turned under light. The 416 stainless steel guard has been meticulously engraved. Steve, who teaches engraving at the GRS school has tremendous control over the shading and detail. The mortised tang handle is secured with stainless pins. The stag is nicely matched and provides a sure, comfortable handle. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
