Description: This piece incorporates knife and sheath into one figure when together -- one snake ascending the central spire, one descending. With steel eyes, both snakes entrance each other.
The tight grained desert ironwood came from a retired furniture maker's 50 year old stock and has beautiful depth and color. It was entirely hand carved, sanded and finished. The Andre Anderson San Mai Dagger blade is very nicely ground and reveals a fascinating linear pattern that perfectly complements the vertical grain structure in the wood. The 20C tool steel core is bitey-sharp and will be easy to maintain.
Jeff's work is nearly all done without the use of motorized tools. This allows him to create much more complex sculpting than could be done with a knifemaker's grinder or buffing wheels. The result is a unique knife that is nearly without comparison. Aside from the time spent by renowned Swedish bladesmith Andre Andersson creating the dagger ground, blade, Jeff spent a little bit over 250 hours creating the handle and sheath. Exceptional work throughout!
