Description: Lonnie's Chevron Hammer Poll is exceptional. The pewter accents were poured directly into wood and then meticulously finished and antiqued. The head is 52100 carbon steel with an antique patina finish (my favorite of the carbon steels for edge retention). The head has been sculpted with a triple chevron and octagon hammer and has been pierced with a detailed cross. The head length is 8 1/2" and the cutting edge is 2.8". The haft is 21 1/3" long. This piece is very sturdy and well weighted for chopping as well as hammering.
The hawk is accompanied by a distressed display box designed to evoke a late middle ages shipping box. The box is made with reproduction 16th century square and wrought iron nails. The inside is lined with antiqued canvas with leather used for the hinges and handles. The hawk is held in place with a very powerful neodymium magnet. The hawk is easily removed by taking hold of it and pulling the handle at the same time as pushing on the box.
Exceptional work throughout!
