Description: Bill Burke, who was honored as a journeyman smith June 2003, makes knives that are as high performance as a knife can get. This Bird and Trout is a rare find from Bill and is exceptional. The long, slender blade will allow for tremendous control and reach. The sheep horn handle is sleek with slight ridges for a very secure hold.
Each knife is pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. The heat treatment and tempering follow the formulas developed by Ed Fowler, Bill's teacher, and has been proven to create some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. The spacer is created by taking two sheep horn end cuts and aligning them outward, producing a very pleasing effect. The hand-stitched beaver skin pouch is another rarity from Mr. Burke and has an exceptionally nice fit. This leather is among the most durable and dramatic leathers found anywhere. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
