Description: Trade Winds combines koa wood from Hawaii, copper from Mexico, and steel from Sweden. The knife and sheath feature clockwise and counter-clockwise spirals formed in copper inlay.
Jeff began this exceptional project with a san mai Damascus blade forged by renowned bladesmith Micke Andersson. A bold pool and eye pattern Damascus surrounds a 20C carbon steel central core, resulting in a keen, long lasting edge.
A swell pistol grip style handle makes this Nordic influenced hunter extremely comfortable in the hand. Copper inlay forms spirals that nicely highlight the pool and eye patterns in Micke's steel. Front and rear bolsters are formed from nickel silver with copper spacers. A 52100 carbon steel ball bearing has been fileworked with three spiral grooves and forms the end nut. The soldered nickel silver guard and screw through tang construction ensure an extremely strong, solidly built knife.
Continuing the theme, Jeff formed the sheath from koa wood and copper. Copper spiral inlays are continued in the sheath. The knife snap fits snugly into the hand-formed heavy gauge copper and half wood sheath. A koa bolo completes the sheath. Excellent work throughout!
