Description: Garri Dadyan, born in Baku, Azerbaijan, was named a National Master Artist of the Soviet Union in 1985 for his unparalleled mastery of repousse metal work. In 1993 he became a member of the UNESCO International Federation of Artists in recognition of his superior artistry. A master metal worker, Mr. Dadyan employs the techniques of chasing, repousse, filigree and granulation, wax casting, engraving and niello with equal virtuosity. Working in gold, silver, and copper, with precious stones and enamel, Garri brings old world mastery to the new world that few can emulate.
The Czar’s Dagger is a prime example of the sheer craftsmanship of this maker. Painstakingly sculpted from solid sterling silver, the handle features a row of meticulously faceted garnets accented by emeralds at either end. The intricacies of Garri’s work comes to full bear in the repousse of the sterling wrapped hardwood sheath, featuring inlaid citrine and alternating garnet gems with a decorative belt hoop on the reverse.
The blade of this magnificent presentation dagger is nothing short of what you would expect. Both renowned Damascus maker, Journeyman Gary House and knifemaker John Lewis Jensen collaborated on this masterpiece. The blade was begun by Gary House, who forged the complex mosaic Damascus blade. John Lewis Jensen then ground the blade to its final shape and heat treated the steel. The resulting collaboration is exceptional in its own right.
A beautiful presentation box with repouse worked copper and brass fittings completes the over-all aesthetic of this one-of-a-kind art dagger
