Description: This large, hand forged clip point Bowie shows off Jody's work at its best. The blade was forged in a very tight temperature range, resulting in a wootz-like texture that looks incredibly like Damascus -- a technique that is easily as difficult and perhaps more so than forging out a Damascus bar. Jody has used a traditional Japanese method of heat treating where the spine is coated with clay to insulate the blade. The resulting blade has a soft, supportive spine, with a hard, long lasting edge. The resulting differential heat treatment line is exceptional. Jody has also hardened the clip, which is brought just shy of a sharpened edge.
An oval guard was forged from carbon steels and leads into the coffin handle. The exhibition grade ironwood has warm tones and a swirling grain structure. This spectacular collector's knife comes with a custom-fitted leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout from a maker to watch!
