Description: Matt Diskin has long been fascinated by the knives of turn of the century San Francisco. In the late 1800s, Michael Price was among the greatest of the knifemakers of San Francisco. The knives produced during this era were among the most exotic, the most costly, and perhaps the most beautiful knives ever produced in the United States. Reproductions such as this one created by Matt Diskin successfully re-create the spirit of these earlier American makers.
This dagger blade is formed from a highly complex mosaic Damascus pattern forged by Matt from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. The Damascus pattern continues into the detailed ring guard. A cream toned fossil walrus ivory handle is completed by a mokume gane end piece forged by Matt from pure nickel and silver. The knife is accompanied by an exceptional sheath formed from matching mokume gane. By using pure nickel and silver, Matt is able to create a subtle, yet dramatic pattern that is very enticing. The sheath is a masterpiece -- perfectly befitting this gentlemanly knife. The knife perfectly fits into the sheath with a satisfying click. Exceptional work throughout.
