Description: The seas surrounding the Aleutian Island chain may harbor the highest abundance and diversity of coldwater corals in the world. Unlike tropical corals, these high-latitude corals do not form reefs, instead assembling into dense gardens. They are generally found at depths of up to 50 meters. This Alaska coral is commonly called a "bubblegum coral."
Through an amazing ability to find materials not found elsewhere, Webb Hammond creates pieces that would normally only be found in museums. Webb has incorporated this most rare and prized sea specimen into this most dramatic knife. The blade is forged Damascus, combining sheet rock screws with carbon steels. The result is an extremely captivating heat blued blade. The spine has been deeply fileworked into a dramatic vine pattern. Fossil walrus ivory and jaw bone act as the guard with nickel silver spacers. The stunning handle is from the core of an Alaskan Paragorgia, set off with a cross cut section for the end cap. Exceptional work throughout.
