Description: Steven Rapp is well known for his Price style knives. In the late 1800s in San Francisco, Michael Price was among the greatest of the knifemakers. The knives produced during this era were among the most exotic, the most costly, and perhaps the most beautiful knives ever produced in the United States. Reproductions such as those created by Steven Rapp successfully create the spirit of these earlier American makers. Steven's knives are extremely collectible and he only makes 10-20 knives a year -- with almost a two year wait. In 1998 he was given Knives Annual's "Wooden Sword Award". Steve is well know for his ability to reproduce antique knives with authenticity, as well as make unique knives of his design.
This dagger blade has been flat ground and meticulous hand satin finished. Steve has engraved this knife "No. 1" to signify that it is the first created of this style. It has been in a single collection and is in new condition. It has been meticulously cared for. It has never been used to cut or been sharpened. By all appearances it could have been made yesterday.
The oval guard and ferrule are both formed from nickel silver and meet perfectly to the pre-ban ivory handle. The handle is formed from a single piece of ivory and has been artistically sculpted and decorated with nickel silver pins. The knife is accompanied by a nickel silver sheath that fits the knife perfectly. Exceptional work throughout.
