Description: This exceptional Damascus Bowie draws its influence from Philline and Western styles. The recurve blade makes it an exceptional cutter and the clip point results in a very aggressive tip.
Michael forged the blade from three separate carbon steels -- 5160, 15N20 and 8660. The resulting ladder pattern Damascus is bold with high contrast (approx. 90 layers). By forging the blade to shape, Michael has assured exceptional strength and beauty. A mar quench during the heat treatment results in optimal edge retention.
The handle is formed from black walnut and maple burl. The walnut is also reflected in the sculpted presentation stand. Michael's superior woodworking is a hallmark of his style. The woods are meticulously combined in complex arch -- with the seams nearly beyond perception. Showing his attention to detail, the stainless pommel unscrews and allows access to the inner mechanism which holds the handle in place. By accessing this, the knife may be disassembled should major repairs ever be needed. Exceptional work throughout.
