Description: Journeyman Smith David Banks is a long time friend of Audra Draper. Starting making knives in 1993, he apprenticed under Mastersmith Ed Fowler with Mastersmith Audra Draper (then an apprentice). In fact, he recalled a story to me of when he was working in Ed Fowler's show and Audra came in for the first time. He assisted her in a jewelry project, which eventually got her interested in knifemaking.
This liner lock folder has a large leaf shaped drop point blade which will be exceptional for use out in the field. By using 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels, David has assured that the blade will have long edge holding. A differential heat treatment assures that the knife will have a soft, durable spine whereas the edge will be extremely hard.
The knife was originally designed by Audra Draper and shows the influence of both her work with Ken Onion (the swooping bolster shape) and Ed Fowler (the sheep scales). It is truly a masterpiece that shows off David's work at its best. The blade has excellent action and is well centered.
