Description: This exceptional folder by renowned bladesmith John Davis has been in a single private collection since it was first sold from BladeGallery. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday. It is an great example of John Davis' work at its best!
The "Tribal" pattern Damascus on this sleek folder is very striking and cleanly executed. The brilliantly toned mammoth ivory scales are nicely finished and have a pleasing blue hue with caramel accents. The contoured shape of the bolsters makes the knife comfortable to hold. The liners are heat-blued and run from blue to purple. The extensive hand fileworking is clean and even. The screws and thumbstud are fileworked, and the screws are heat-blued. The backbar is reminiscent of zebra stripes. John makes some of the most captivating Damascus found anywhere.
