Description: This san mai Bowie has a highly complex and engaging blade. Bill began with a 52100 carbon steel core and sandwiched this between 2 layers of 131 layer Damascus (forged from 15N20 and 1080 carbon steel along with pure nickel. The 52100 carbon steel core provides exceptional cutting ability. Many collectors and makers feel this to be the best steel for edge holding available today.
The pommel cap and nut along with the oval guard were made from Bill's 262 layer Damascus. Both the guard and pommel nut are vine pattern fileworked. The hippo tooth handle gives the Bowie and added feel and beauty that can only be appreciated fully when in your hand. The sheath is hand sewn using high quality leather and has hippo hide inlay to compliment the handle. Exceptional work throughout.
