Description: Tom's Orca paring knife is his own modification on the traditional Santoku pattern -- the classic Japanese chef's knife. The smaller sized blade has the classic downturned tip and an ergonomic handle designed to give finger clearance over a cutting board.
The blade was forged by Tom using 15N20 and 1080 carbon steels for a keen, long lasting edge. Highly detailed mosaic Damascus patterns were combined by Tom to create a new pattern that he calls Ribbon pattern. The blade has been distal tapered for optimal balance.
The G10 ferrule forms a barrier between the blade and the stabilized buckeye burl handle. The burl has a nice swirling grain that nicely compliments Tom's choice of Damascus. Exceptional work throughout.
