Description: Award winning Swedish bladesmith Henry Hildén held nothing back when he created this Swedish style Bowie. The highly detailed two bar composite mosaic Damascus blade incorporates two equally captivating patterns. The spine bar depicts bold snowflakes surrounded by a tight basket weave pattern. This was forged from pure nickel and iron along with CK100 and 15N20 carbon steels for extremely high contrast. The firecracker pattern edge was forged from CK 100 and 15N20 carbon steels for exceptional edge retention. The pattern is extremely clear and shows tremendous control and skill.
The stacked handle is meticulously executed and shows both an artistic eye for design and skilled implementation. The central section of the handle is formed from stabilized masur birch. The dark wood is inset with a sculpted mammoth ivory snowflake on each side. Spacers formed from fossil mammoth ivory, nickel silver, and amboyna burl add a nice contrast, with the amboyna burl bringing in warm red tones. The ferrule and pommel (including the end nut) are both formed from Henry's twist pattern Damascus. The textured blade collar (habiki) adds a elegant touch.
The fit and finish throughout is extremely well executed.
